Borrow/Invest Statement: Run Report

Prev Next

Purpose

The Borrow/Invest Statement shows the principal and interest movements over a nominated period for all Cash Account, Intercompany Loan, and Loan/Deposit deals selected.

It's the primary report for a month-end interest position. A single row returns the principal movement and all four interest figures for the period: opening accrual, period accrual, interest settled, and closing accrual.

Run Reports

  1. Go to Risk > Reports > Accounting > Borrow/Invest Statement.

  2. The Borrow/Invest Statement screen opens.

  3. Enter your report parameters:

Principal

2026-09-22_15-26-45.png

Review your principal. Borrowings display as negative amounts, so the figures on screen carry a minus sign.

  • Opening Balance

  • Movement

  • Closing Balance

The relationship between these figures are:

  • Opening Balance + Movement = Closing Balance

  • Each period's closing balance is the next period's opening balance.

  • Days is the difference between the Period Start and Period End. For example, 30-Apr-26 to 31-May-26 is 31 days, and this is number of days that accrue.

The principal information shows you what was outstanding at the start of the period, the drawdowns and repayments during it, and what is outstanding at the end.

Interest

2026-09-22_10-02-27.png

Review your interest. Borrowings display as negative amounts, so the figures on screen carry a minus sign.

  • Opening Accrual

  • Period Accrual

  • Interest/Fees Paid

  • Closing Accrual

The relationship between these figures are:

  • Opening Accrual + Period Accrual − Interest/Fees Paid = Closing Accrual

  • Each period's closing accrual is the next period's opening accrual, and across the life of the deal total accrued equals total settled.

  • Days is the difference between the Period Start and Period End. For example, 30-Apr-26 to 31-May-26 is 31 days, and this is number of days that accrue.

Reconcile Interest Against Second Report

You can confirm each of the interest figures against a second report. If a period boundary is drawn a day or later, the interest moves between months but the actual to-date total doesn't change. If a total changes, something is wrong rather than merely presented differently.

Default Reporting Period Convention

New balances accrue from the date onward but movements always take effect from the movement date.

  • Period Start: Balances on this date accrue to the previous period (not the one you are reporting). Principal movements on this date affect the current period in your report.

  • Period End: Balances on this date accrue in the current period you are reporting. Principal movements on this date affect the next period (not the one you are reporting).

This difference in how balances and movements are captured is why you use different report dates between reports to capture information for the same month.

Date Boundaries

You can change your accrual method setting per instrument type and product in gear Platform icon > Administration > System Configuration > Application Settings.

Changing your accrual method moves interest between accounting periods for every deal in that product. Treat this change as an accounting policy change, not a reporting fix, and confirm the convention with the accounting department.
