The purpose of this policy is to establish an authorized method for controlling portable computing at Ripple Treasury.
It is the policy of Ripple Treasury that portable devices containing or accessing the information resources at Ripple Treasury must be approved prior to connecting to the information systems at Ripple Treasury. This pertains to all devices connecting to the network at Ripple Treasury, regardless of ownership. Exceptions to this policy may be approved on a case by case basis for specific reasons but must be approved by management.
Devices that were not issued by Ripple Treasury cannot access the corporate Ripple Treasury network without domain credentials. Non-Ripple Treasury issued devices can only connect to the Guest network. Non-Ripple Treasury issued devices may not connect to the corporate network without explicit permission of management.
Portable computing devices include, but are not limited to: laptop computers, handheld wireless devices, and any other existing or future mobile computing device, either personally owned or Ripple Treasury owned, that may connect to or access the information systems at Ripple Treasury.
Portable computing devices are easily lost or stolen, presenting a high risk for unauthorized access and introduction of malicious software to the network at Ripple Treasury. These risks must be mitigated to acceptable levels.
Portable computing devices that may contain confidential, personal, or sensitive Ripple Treasury information must use encryption or equally strong measures to protect the data while it is being stored.
Unless written approval has been obtained from Ripple Treasury Management, databases or portions thereof, which reside on the network at the Ripple Treasury, shall not be downloaded to mobile computing devices.
All work-related information/files should be stored on Ripple Treasury servers.
Ripple Treasury owned/managed devices that contain sensitive information (including any cell phone with company email, company owned laptop, external hard drive or removable media) are properly wiped of any confidential data prior to disposal.
Company owned devices have remote-wipe capabilities that can be used on demand by IT. NOTE: Employee owned devices are restricted from accessing the Ripple Treasury internal network and are limited to access via the Ripple Treasury Guest Networks.
Procedures
Users must report lost or stolen portable computing devices immediately.
Ripple Treasury Management shall approve all new portable computing devices that may connect to information systems at Ripple Treasury.
Roles and Responsibilities
Users of portable computing devices must diligently protect such devices from loss of equipment and disclosure of private information belonging to or maintained by Ripple Treasury. Ripple Treasury management and IT must be notified immediately upon detection of a lost or stolen device.
