Accruals Report: Run Reports

Prev Next

Purpose

The Accruals Report lists deals with the interest accrual for each deal, either as at a nominated date or for an accounting period, and provides the supporting detail for interest accrual accounting entries.

The report runs two distinct jobs, selected by the first parameter:

Mode

Dates in the Mode

Job Use

Accrual Since Last Roll

The report runs from the deal's last roll to the report date, and the report date itself accrues.

The accrual balance at a point in time. The opening and closing accrual.

Accrual for Period

Both a start and end date are used. The start date is excluded and the end date is included, so 30-Apr-2026 to 31-May-2026 is the calendar month of May.

The accrual movement across a period, and the support for general ledger accrual postings.

After running the Borrow/Invest Statement, use the Accruals Report to confirm the Opening Accrual, Period Accrual, and Closing Accrual figures.

Your Accruals Report is a list of all deals meeting the report parameters. Each deal shows:

  • Deal Details: The largest portion of the report columns contains your deal details. Among these details are:

    • Period Start:

      • For Accrual Since Last Roll, this is the last interest date or the start of the deal.

      • For Accrual For Period, this is the start date of the accounting period or the start of the deal.

    • Period End: This is the end date of the period or the maturity date of the deal.

    • Days: Number of days between the Period Start and Period End.

    • Day Basis: The day basis for the deal fee.

  • Accrued Interest: This is the last set of columns in the report. These columns are:

    • Total:

      • For interest rate deals, the accrued interest for the deal

      • For financial instruments, the accrued coupon interest and the accreted discount or amortized premium for the deal

    • Accrued interest by date: When viewing multiple accounting periods, each accrued interest column is headed by the period end date of its bucket. If a rateset has occurred in the period but hasn’t been actioned, this field has a notification that shows it is pending.

      • For example, 30-Apr is April and 31-May is May.

    • Posted: The amount already transferred to General Ledger.

Default Reporting Period Convention

New balances accrue from the date onward but movements always take effect from the movement date.

  • Period Start: Balances on this date accrue to the previous period (not the one you are reporting). Principal movements on this date affect the current period in your report.

  • Period End: Balances on this date accrue in the current period you are reporting. Principal movements on this date affect the next period (not the one you are reporting).

This difference in how balances and movements are captured is why you use different report dates between reports to capture information for the same month.

Date Boundaries by Report

You can change your accrual method setting per instrument type and product in gear Platform icon > Administration > System Configuration > Application Settings.

Changing your accrual method moves interest between accounting periods for every deal in that product. Treat this change as an accounting policy change, not a reporting fix, and confirm the convention with the accounting department.
